KD 1,046 – KD 1,576/month (Grid 1 — QTS Scale), tax-free, based on qualifications & experience

Accommodation

Furnished school accommodation with all utilities included (Salwa, Salmiya, or Hawally) or monthly rent allowance: KD 195/month (single) or KD 315/month (teaching couple, both at KES)

Medical Insurance

Free private medical insurance for employee; dependants may be enrolled at staff cost

Annual Airfare Allowance

Yearly round-trip Kuwait/London/Kuwait ticket allowance for employee + eligible dependants; new staff may book through KES travel agency

Cash-in-Lieu of Ticket

KD 260 (adult) upon return each year; children's rates per contract

Settling-in Allowance

KD 200 upon first arrival (expatriate hires)

Excess Baggage

Up to GBP 100 reimbursed for first contract year (expatriate hires)

Visa Expenses

KD 100 reimbursed for staff arriving with a completed Work Visa obtained overseas

Tuition Discount

50% discount on KES tuition fees for children of overseas staff

Sick Leave

6 days full pay → 6 days ¾ pay → 6 days ½ pay → 6 days ¼ pay per year

Maternity Leave

40 calendar days paid maternity leave from date of delivery

Bereavement Leave

Up to 5 calendar days; airline ticket provided for overseas staff in case of immediate family bereavement

Personal Leave

2 personal leave days per contract year

Hajj Leave

Up to 21 calendar days (once during employment, after 5 years of service)

End-of-Service Gratuity

As per Kuwait Labour Law: 15/26 monthly wage per year (years 1–5); full monthly wage per year (year 6+)

  Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons aligned to the British curriculum (KS3, GCSE, and/or A-Level) that challenge and inspire students of varying abilities.
  • Set high expectations for students' literacy, oracy, and analytical skills, fostering a genuine love of language and literature.
  • Mark and assess student work regularly, providing detailed, constructive feedback that supports progress and targets individual learning needs.
  • Track and monitor student performance, maintaining accurate records and reporting progress to parents and leadership as required.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning profiles, including SEND and EAL learners, in collaboration with Learning Support.
  • Contribute actively to the department's curriculum planning, scheme of work development, and selection of high-quality texts and resources.
  • Participate in Parents' Evenings, pastoral events, and school-wide activities as part of routine contractual duties.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties including break, lunch, and dismissal.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom environment in line with KES policies and procedures.
  • Sponsor or contribute to at least one extra-curricular activity, club, or school-wide event per year.
  • Engage in professional development, appraisal processes, and department meetings, maintaining and enhancing your professional practice.
  • Uphold and promote the values, ethos, and reputation of Kuwait English School at all times.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent internationally recognised teaching qualification.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English; native or near-native proficiency.
  • A commitment to high-quality teaching, student progress, and professional development.
  • 1–2 years of secondary school teaching experience (newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply).
  • Experience delivering GCSE and/or A-Level English Language and/or Literature.
  • Familiarity with British curriculum frameworks and assessment standards.
  • Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment.
