Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons aligned to the British curriculum (KS3, GCSE, and/or A-Level) that challenge and inspire students of varying abilities.
- Set high expectations for students' literacy, oracy, and analytical skills, fostering a genuine love of language and literature.
- Mark and assess student work regularly, providing detailed, constructive feedback that supports progress and targets individual learning needs.
- Track and monitor student performance, maintaining accurate records and reporting progress to parents and leadership as required.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning profiles, including SEND and EAL learners, in collaboration with Learning Support.
- Contribute actively to the department's curriculum planning, scheme of work development, and selection of high-quality texts and resources.
- Participate in Parents' Evenings, pastoral events, and school-wide activities as part of routine contractual duties.
- Supervise students during assigned duties including break, lunch, and dismissal.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom environment in line with KES policies and procedures.
- Sponsor or contribute to at least one extra-curricular activity, club, or school-wide event per year.
- Engage in professional development, appraisal processes, and department meetings, maintaining and enhancing your professional practice.
- Uphold and promote the values, ethos, and reputation of Kuwait English School at all times.
- Bachelor's degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent internationally recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong command of written and spoken English; native or near-native proficiency.
- A commitment to high-quality teaching, student progress, and professional development.
- 1–2 years of secondary school teaching experience (newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply).
- Experience delivering GCSE and/or A-Level English Language and/or Literature.
- Familiarity with British curriculum frameworks and assessment standards.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment.
